When it comes to a fictional couple, the first people that popped in my head was Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara. I cannot think of a couple that is more Larger than Life than those two. And the reason i selected them as my favorite fictional couple is because I like how they challenged one another. To me they had a toxic relationship and it was fun to see how Rhett would put Scarlett in her place and do things that would infuriate her and I enjoyed seeing her reaction to him. They had kind of a love-hate relationship that was pretty intense.

I always have ideas for new novels. ALWAYS. So it's just a matter of what book really captures my attention. Which characters are the most compelling? A lot of other factors are involved when it comes to sticking to a novel that makes me abandon all the other ideas. But usually my story will involve a central female character and whatever conflict she's facing. I'm addicted to writing and yes, more books are inside of me.

The Love & Revenge series came about because my editor at the time asked me to think of some storylines involving revenge. A woman or women that wanted to make someone pay for hurting them. Once she gave me the basics of what she wanted, I came up with several story ideas for a few novels. She liked the synopsis for If Your Wife Only Knew, and the rest is history. Writing this three-book series is the hardest project I've ever tackled. But now that I'm done, it was definitely worth it. I loved these character so much (Rashad, Kiara, Nicole, Alexis, Ajalon and the rest of the gang).

When I get stuck on a scene, I have to do one of two things: (1) Take a break. Close out of the document and go do something else. Writing is very intense for me and taking time to relax may help.
(2) Sometimes I can think about which characters are in the scene that I'm working on; where are they at exactly, what is about to happen or what just happened? I have to ask myself a few questions and visualize what should come next.

Inspiration comes from everywhere. It typically starts with a question: "What if?" I think of characters and the situation that they are in. And as I'm writing the book, I get inspired from everything. Listening to peoples' conversations, reading a line in a magazine, or seeing people on the street and imagining about their lives. Seeing cars that are driving around Houston, hearing a song, and I even have dreams that tell me what's coming up next in my book.

The best thing about being a writer is taking a very basic story concept, and adding to it, developing characters and action, and sticking with it until you've written a beginning, a middle and an end. Being creative is a liberating (and scary) process. I read my books just like any other reader. Laughing at their craziness and shaking my head when they do something scandalous. Writing is hard work but very fulfilling.
