Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Adam Bane I visited the Abbazia di San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte near Portofino on the Ligurian coast. You get there by boat from nearby Camogli. Google it. It is amazing.

How do you get inspired to write?
Adam Bane I suppose inspiration mostly comes from other writers, and from movies and TV shows.

What are you currently working on?
Adam Bane I'm currently writing Book 2 in the Commissario Martelli series. It's called Santo Spirito. I'm also a journalist so I write articles for a living.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Adam Bane Just sit down and start writing. Oh, and keep a notebook and pen (or a smartphone) with you at all times.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Adam Bane The freedom to work wherever I want, whenever I want.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Adam Bane I'll try skipping ahead to a different part of the story or, if possible, visiting one of the locations in the story. If both of those fail then I simply write something else - a magazine or online article.
