Rose Strickman I think about something else for a while. Seriously, just taking a break and watching Netflix can be a real help. Also, re-reading my old stuff, even writing projects that didn't work out. It reminds me that I *can* write, and that not being able to write for a day or a couple of days is not that big a deal.

Rose Strickman I usually write short fiction rather than whole books, but my most recent novella was inspired by the Latinx tradition of the quinceanera. In my universe of the Drowned World, the Sea People are descended from Latinx ethnic groups, and their culture is heavily influenced by South and Central American traditions. The quinceanera is an important ritual in many Latinx cultures. So how would the Sea tribes incorporate it into their cultures and communities? I wrote the novella to find out!
