That first dream, it's actually a chapter about 2/3 into The Nothingness. Evie and Lucca haunted me for a long time, and each time I tried to put their story on paper, it never came out right. Then about a year and a half ago, I went to a tarot card reading and the woman flat out asked me if I was a writer because she said I had a story inside of me and it was aching to get out. I went home after that reading and the words just flowed. It was a completely organic experience.

As cliche as it sounds, I had a dream. It was vivid and it haunted me for a long time (I'm talking months) after I woke up. Then I'd hear a song and it would remind me of that dream, and then the faces crystallized. Voices, names, they all popped out of my subconscious, and the story guided me. After that, it truly depends. It really just has to be an idea, an image, or a similar vision that lingers in my mind until I listen to it. These stories usually nag and nag, so that's why I have so many projects in the works. I let one out and now it's like Pandora's box has been opened.

I have at about six projects in the pipeline (maybe more). The most pressing is obviously the second installment of the Addictions Of The Eternal series (The Saving). It's complete and prepped for a last round of editing, which is really exciting. I can't wait to share the next phase of Evie's journey. After that, I have some other supernatural stories that I'm excited to get out there. I have a very personal and intimate story which I'm hoping to get out in the fall (if all goes well). And I am in love with the current faerie tale that I'm working on. It's pushing me because I'm basing the story very heavily off of long-standing faerie lore. I have some cyberpunk and apocalyptic fun in the works as well. I'm enjoying trying a new view and a new voice with each story. At all times, I gotta keep it dark and I gotta keep it sexy. I can't help but fall in love with the bad guy.

Write whatever stirs your emotions. Don't worry about trying to identify what genre you fit into. The best stories are those that bend the lines and cross genre boundaries. Just get it out. We can't be everyone's cup of tea, but we will inevitably be someone's.

From a selfish standpoint, it feels like a physical weight is lifted off of me when a story comes out. In truth, it's the reaction from readers that pushes me forward. When I evoke that "wow" or "OMG" reaction and someone tells me a character lingers in my head even after they've finished a story, then I know my writing is working.

I listen to music and drive. Sometimes I just need some quiet time by myself or change my surroundings for a bit.
