From the mighty red rocks of Petra, Jordan, to the fury of the Hawaiian volcanoes, to the religious fervor of Varanasi, India, I've long been compelled to explore and portray such awe-inspiring places of peace and power through my writing and artwork.

A couple of books - One is a collection of humorous cultural experiences ranging from haggling atop a camel in the Libyan Sahara to ordering my first pizza in Thailand! The other is a sequel to my Art / Travel book - on hiking to sacred heights around the world.

Remember Rome wasn't built in a day. Write down what might appear to be the product of a most an insignificant inspirational moment. Never give up, and always reach for the sky. I received over 100 rejection letters before I got my first piece in an Op-Ed for a major newspaper published in 1986!

When my wife, Ramaa, and I were walking along the shore of Lake Michigan in Chicago one afternoon three years ago, she asked me if I ever considered publishing the numerous travelogues and artwork I’d been writing and painting over the past 30 years.
When I began thinking about some of my life adventures: suddenly being surrounded by a pack of feral dogs while sketching a temple in Thailand; not knowing how to swim, wading in chin-deep waters of an underground cave in Belize where Maya called to their gods through human sacrifices; and having a posse' of Israeli soldiers suspiciously eyeing me as I went about sketching the western Wall – I immediately decided that I wanted to share some of my adventures in these lands in a book form rather than as scattered, individual pieces published in various newspaper columns.
In that wonderful moment, a book was born!
