Hi, thanks for the question.
I was considering what cloning would be used for in the future. This was the process of my thoughts:
1. What person from the past would actually be important enough for someone to clone and raise? Someone who would bring some talent or trait that no one else had.
2. Someone who would want to clone someone and expect them to be an automaton who would serve their every whim would be wealthy and a little bit crazy. They would want to change the world, and what better way than by politics?
3. What figure from the past would be this crazy person's choice for a re-cloned president? George Washington.
These thoughts flashed through my mind very quickly, and the story was half-formed from there.
