Hi Michael,
First and foremost - thank you! I love hearing from avid readers like you. The Challenged World is shelved for the moment, but I just sent off the latest Case Lee adventure to my editor (as in a few hours a ago). The Sawtooth Job. It should be published in early April. Thanks again and all the best, Vince

Hi, Mary Ann - yes, it's certainly possible. The fifth Case Lee book will resolve the bounty on his head (as well as for Marcus, Catch, and Bo). This will result in the removal of a large impediment for romance. Thanks for asking and all the best, Vince

Hi, James - I'm shooting for March. The first draft is nearing completion, and the editor will run through it in February. Thanks for asking!

Hi, Ally. I'm about 60% through with the next book, first draft. I should be completed by mid-May, and then the line editor will go through it, shoot it back to me, I'll revise and send back to the line editor, and then final changes will be made (whew!). The editor has been such a blessing and truly elevates my work to the best level I'm capable of. All this said, I would anticipate release of the next book in late June to mid-July.

I tend to be a very positive person, and the "why" of evil acts - on a visceral and spiritual level - drives me nuts. The Unknown Element addresses this, in less than a definitive way - admittedly - but the "why" was indeed the prime driver behind the idea for the novel.

I've been an avid reader since a very young age. The craft of writing has always fascinated me, sometimes to a depressing degree (I'll never hone my craft to the degree of a Cormac McCarthy - the Border Trilogy is well beyond my ken). And, I simply love a good tale. We all have a great tale or two inside us, and that in and of itself is an inspiration.

The next book in the Challenged World series (The Unknown Element is the first novel in the series) is nearing final edit and should be published in early September. It's title is "Pretty Little Creatures", and entails more adventures from Cole, Nadine, and Francois as they band together to fight Ebola terrorism, Mexican drug cartels, and evil forces.
I'm also working on the third novel in the series which introduces more spiritual warriors to team with the original intrepid trio, as well as a first person point-of-view novel about one person's love of nature, good friends, high desert mountains, life, and the special relationship between a person and their dog.

I'm hardly qualified to give advice of this nature, so I can only speak from personal - and limited - experience. Tell a good tale. This goes back to the oral traditions of our ancient ancestors. I try to focus on telling a good tale, engaging the reader, and, hopefully, pulling the reader into the tale.

This sounds terribly foolish coming from someone my age, but writing allows me to be a kid again. Instead of Play-dough or Lego's, I create stories, characters, surprises, emotions - the whole gamut of telling a good tale.

I suppose I'm blessed - or cursed - with being a grinder. By that I mean in lieu of flashes of brilliance (which would be oh-so-nice if they were to happen), I tend to write daily and grind out words following the plot arch. This leads, of course, to a substantial amount of re-writing as the less than stellar sentences, paragraphs, and (oh man I hate this one) chapters are revised or eliminated and replaced. So, in short, I tend to grind out something every day.
