Go outside and live. Seriously. Then, if you have enough good stories to tell, write. And don't be too pretentious. You will be, anyway. And enjoy your mistakes. Learn to fail and accept your flaws, in the beginning. You may not like the way your words sound, because they are yours, but the more you write, the easier it will be to get used to it. And read a lot. The more you read, the better you write.

I was reading 'Siddartha', by Herman Hesse, and I didn't like much about his writing style. I thought: if this guy can become a literature nobel, why can't I at least try my luck? I'm kidding. His books are great. But yeah, I thought I just try to leave poetry aside for a while and write something big. And that's what I did.

When I want to write a poem, I usually read my favorite authors for a while, so I can have an idea of what to steal from them. I write better with music. Usually, I work better as a human being when I listen to music.

Translating my first novel, 'Dias de Juventude', from portuguese to english! Very challenging, though it's a bit of a slow process. But I found out that I write better in english than in portuguese. Go figure!
