Tamsin Hopkins The idea for the book I'm working on at the moment came from one of the short stories in my collection of river stories Shore to Shore. People who read the Victorian mudlarking story called Joanna Brown kept asking me - what happens to Joanna after the story ends? What does Joanna do? So then I knew I would write about her and find out what happens.

Then you can write about them. It's not a thing you can force or define easily but when you get an idea - you know it.
Tamsin Hopkins The best thing is to have regular writing habits, if you can. By writing at the same time every day you can train yourself to produce work, even if the quality can't be trained or guaranteed. At least that way you do write. It can be edited and improved later.
