Sarah Mäkelä Keep with it! Getting published can be a long, discouraging process at times. Don’t let others deter you from your dreams. If you feel passionate about writing, then focus on it. Sit down and do something toward your goal every day.
Sarah Mäkelä My latest release was a western paranormal romance called Captive Moonlight.

My main inspiration for the story was from a couple songs actually. The songs are The Longest Road by Morgan Page feat Lissie, which gave me the western-ish mood of the story, and also Fight for You by Morgan Page feat Lissie, which inspired the woman fighting for her man aspect of the plot. They’re both easy to find on YouTube, if you’re interested.

Besides that, I’ve also always wanted to write a historical story since I double majored in English/History for a while in college before switching solely to English.
Sarah Mäkelä The best thing about being a writer is going on adventures with the characters that live in my head. I love experiencing the worlds they live in and the excitement that entails. Also, I really enjoy interacting with my readers.
Sarah Mäkelä Moi! Yes, I do. My husband is Finnish, and his family lives near Helsinki. :-) I've been over there several times, and we want to eventually retire there. It's a beautiful country.
Sarah Mäkelä Most of the time I just write through writer's block. Taking the nose to the grindstone approach and just getting words down on the page, even if they aren't pretty usually gets the job done. Sometimes I have to go back to the drawing board to see if the reason I'm struggling with the book because it slid off track plot-wise. If that's the case, I'll brainstorm how to fix what's wrong then get back to writing.
Sarah Mäkelä Thank you so much, Mark! :-) I'd have to say music inspires me the most. It helps me tap into emotions and set a vibe in my head. Sometimes I'll also hear a lyric that sparks a story idea, which is what happened with Cold Moon Rising (Rosemary by Deftones). Other songs gave me character insight into my heroine for Highland Moon Rising (Buddha For Mary by 30 Seconds to Mars). That last song is pretty dark, which fit well with the tone of the book.
Sarah Mäkelä I'm currently working on the fifth book in the Cry Wolf series, which features Caitlyn's brother Colin as the hero.
