What are you currently working on?
George Mercer I'm currently working on "Fat Cats", the fourth book in the Dyed In The Green series. This story follows one of my main characters, John Haffcut, to Canada's southern Gulf Islands, a park being overrun by deer. John's plan to use cougars to kill deer and help restore the park ecosystem runs into a snag when a notorious cougar hunter shows up on the islands.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
George Mercer I got the idea for Fat Cats while working as a park warden and monitoring ecologist in Gulf Islands National Park Reserve where deer are over-running the park ecosystem, reducing the park's biodiversity. Cougars that sometimes show up on the islands are shot by private land owners, a frustrating situation for anyone who wants to see them left to do their thing, preying on deer and helping restore native ecosystems, naturally!
