Keith Ryan Kappel Best piece of advice I can give is find a writing buddy. Iron sharpens iron, and if you can find someone who is at the same stage in their career as you, and takes it seriously, that's the best thing. A great peer editor, who you can show your work and that will absolutely destroy it with comments and marking it up in the name of improving the story is the best tool any writer can have. Someone who can edit your work dispassionately and without ego. You'll both make each other better writers.
Keith Ryan Kappel While there are a lot of great things, like being able to set my own hours, wear pajamas all day, and work on amazing franchises like Star Wars, the best part about being a writer is getting audience reaction. Knowing someone else enjoyed something you put so much of yourself into is incredibly gratifying.
Keith Ryan Kappel This is actually not something I've ever really had to deal with. Columbia College Chicago has a great program that really gives you the tools to always be able to just sit down and write without hesitation.

That said, I have certainly written myself into a corner and gotten stuck. This usually happens because I'm either trying to force the writing to do something it doesn't want to do, or I made some other kind of mistake. When I sense this happening, I try and figure out what I did wrong, and either start over or archive a few pages before deleting them and trying something else.
