Michael Stuart Baskin I haven't experienced it yet. There may be a couple reasons for that: 1. I write what I feel inspired to write, 2. my only deadlines are self-imposed and 3. I don't sweat details in a first draft. Grammar, cleverness, punctuation and the use of more descriptive words can all be ironed out later.
Michael Stuart Baskin I never had any intention or thought of writing a memoir about my tour of duty in Vietnam, but last July (2018) I celebrated the 50th anniversary of my arrival in Saigon with a story posted on Facebook. A week later I had another recollection to post and the week after that another still. I didn't know how my recollections would be received and somewhat to my surprise, they were quite popular.

As the weeks passed, the memories continued and by Thanksgiving Day I realized: 1. there were stories that I wanted to tell but shouldn't tell online and 2. I had LOTS more stories - enough stories to justify collecting them into a book. On top of that, I had almost 100 original photographs and military maps to enhance my narrative and it's documentation.

So, I got down to the business of writing it and when I finished the book was over 200 pages long.
