I was crying in my car after a hard day at trial. The patient who was suing my doctor had lied on the stand, and I had to cross examine him. I did my job, and I did it well, but I felt terrible for the patient. Was this who I wanted to be? I wanted to be elegant, but my job was to be a warrior. I knew I had to find a way to navigate between the two and stay true to me, and that if I could find tools to do so others could use them as well. A book was born.
