Kathy Griffith Midnight was never a good time to enter the basement, especially when all I had to see by was a faulty flashlight.

I broke out in a sweat as I heard scratching sounds in the corner where some ragged, chewed boxes were stacked, and as I pointed the light at the source, it illuminated wide, staring eyes--

--as the batteries died.
Kathy Griffith I think I would be in Leta Blake's Slow Heat world, so I could be a pampered female pet :)
Kathy Griffith I'm rereading some of my favorites, but I'm looking forward to reading Radium Girls, the story of the women who were dial painters in watch factories. I'm also looking forward to catching up on the Made Marian series and some of L A Witt's releases I haven't gotten to yet :) I also have to finish my followup book to Talk Of The Town and start on my contemporary m/m version of Hamlet. Surprise--everyone dies except one guy :)
Kathy Griffith What I think about before I fall asleep--it's a mystery to quite a few people :)

Kathy Griffith My daughter showed me an article describing the oldest house in history, located in the highlands of Scotland. I kept that kernel in my head for future reference. A little later, I watched a show about an ancient vampire almost 5000 years old. I said "Hmmmm--I'll show you ancient--and put those two kernels together. I was almost done with the book, then--I read it and it just wasn't right. Holding my nose, I gutted it and saved some of the good parts, then started over. It took seven months, but I was finally happy with it.
Kathy Griffith I listen to my friends and family and say "what if?", or read news articles and say "what if?". Other times, I'll read prompts and just go from there--There have been a few random and beautiful times that something's just popped in my head--I treasure those.
Kathy Griffith I'm dusting off some of my older stuff and making it the way I like it--my fresh work in progress is a followup to The Ancient--what happens to Bruce and Jeffrey five years after their adventures with Alasdair.
Kathy Griffith You have to read----read, read, read. Read the bad stuff too. Also, write what you want to read, and write to please yourself. The rest of us will follow. One more very important thing--don't be afraid to "kill your darlings" and rip out passages, whole chapters, or even more if you feel they aren't right.
Kathy Griffith Being able to create something that's in my head; to bring it out. Then, going back and tweaking it to make it just the way I like it.
Kathy Griffith I look in my Writer's Book Of Matches or I take a step back and work on something else--I'm usually grateful to get back to what I was doing :)
