Gill James Keep on writing and keep on submitting. You'll get there if you keep at it. The "if", however, is huge!
Gill James You can live multiple lives ... form the comfort of your own desk - and that can be anywhere in the world.
Gill James I don't think I've ever really had it and I intend to keep it that way. There are days when I lose confidence in my work and when the ideas seem a bit thin. The answer then is to keep writing - and reading.
Gill James A series of books set in Nazi Germany, a play about the same, a non-fiction book about the dark side of children's literature, a fourth part of my Peace Child (science fiction) series, some flash fiction, some materials for teachers and a non-fiction life-style book. I like to have several projects going on a at once.
Gill James I don't wait for inspiration. I force myself to write every day. Opening my word processing programme gets me writing.
Gill James They come to me from all sorts of places. A chance overheard remark, curiosity about someone, something that happens to me. They tend to arrive more or less fully formed. I rarely get them when I'm at my desk but more often when I'm walking, swimming, ironing or cooking.
