I've been in sales for 25 years and just felt like I was doing everything correctly and wished to share the experience. The idea for "Sell Like a Marine" began life over 20 years ago, but was to be titled "In Search of the Wholey Sale". While working on the cover and having difficulty getting my vision to a reality I had an epiphany of "Sell Like a Marine" and thought that more descriptive of the intent.
I waited so long, though, because I felt like it took that amount of time to develop the credibility to proceed. Once "there" I got to work and then finished it off with a sleepless last few days through to the Finish Line.

I love to write and have periods where no ideas exist. Then, all of a sudden something happens and it's like a bolt of lightening. Sometimes, too, the ideas will come and go and then I can't remember what I had previously thought to be a profound concept so I always write it down and then get to work from there.

Just completed "Sell Like a Marine" which has been a 20 year dream. The sequel might be "The Few, The Proud, The Sales Force", but I've not yet begun and the title might change. Very much looking forward to getting started, though, likely sooner than later.

People tend to put me on a pedestal higher than what I think I deserve. Anyone is capable of written excellence. You just have to believe in yourself and know without any doubt that you're entirely capable. I think that we're all fairly equal in this regard and you just have to put the work in and be ready for deep thought. It's extremely refreshing and rewarding and available to all.

Writing allows one to fully express themselves with utter accuracy. Other modes of communication offer the same opportunity, but with writing you can really fine tune and craft whatever you like with the luxury of taking your time to get it right.

That's an easy one. I just sit down without distractions and go into a state of deep concentration. Of course, sometimes that means that it has to be late at night or early in the morning, but that gives at least two opportunities per day to burst through to the next level. If I'm really blocked then I give it a break and just try to think it through often while driving. Regardless, it's always a temporary condition.
