I was talking to someone about the kind of book I probably should have written instead of the ones I did write. I said, "I bet if I had written Vampire Erotica it would have been more popular." That was the lightbulb moment. Obviously, I didn't write any vampire erotica, I wrote Neo-Noir Vampire Erotica in the style of a first-person pulp detective novel with live rock music, martial arts, violent outbursts, and a little bit of pop-culture.
