Xyla Turner Black love is absolutely beautiful!
I put his loneliness at the forefront to create him a story. What kind of woman should sweep him off his feet?
Xyla Turner Hi Ashley.
No, my bikers don't cheat. Once they've met the heroine, there are no other sexual scenes with women. Even before they meet, nothing is detailed.
That's a great question.
Xyla Turner Right now, I'd have to say Mace and June from His to Own by Theodora Taylor. I love them!
It's probably more of the storyline but the way Mace made his transition through the story and even June. It was beautifully written!
Xyla Turner Right now, I'm working on my Fall 2016 project - Beyond the Crossroads.
Xyla Turner Read, read, read!
Then, write, write, write.
Xyla Turner I would say the best passage I've written was when the reporter in Under Further Review, asked Shane how he was holding up after his father died and his response was that he wasn't holding. The best man he's ever known was no longer here as he'd always had been. He made comparisons about how they, the media, looked at athletes as figures and sports puppets but it was much deeper than that.
I felt it was the best because it came from a place that I think I could relate to on some level. As someone who hasn't grown up with my father but later met him and then he passed away before he could see any of his grandkids, is heartbreaking. There are a plethora of emotions that are attached to that passage but I cried so much, I couldn't get it out. However, I never forgot a word.
This is from Under Further Review.
Xyla Turner Good Question!
Honestly, I want to say this year but that may not happen but it should be soon after. I have a few other projects and collaborations but it might not be as far off as I think.
Xyla Turner I read or watch TV. I do not get it often or I have not been writing long enough to get it, but if I get tired of writing, I have plenty of shows on my DVR.
Xyla Turner The best thing is that I control what is happening on the page. If I don't like it, it's not happening. If I like it and want to see more of it, then it does. It also allows me to use my imagination for more than daydreaming, but also making the characters come alive. The last point about the best thing with being a writer, is it allows me to have the controversy in my personal life and view it from all sides and not just my own. This has served as a sort of therapy.
Xyla Turner As a caveat, I am an advocate of social justice, so all of my writing includes aspects of this. I did not really know that, until I submitted my work to a publisher and they said, they did not take work where this was a major part of the story. *Shrugging my shoulders* because that is who I am - figures. Therefore, my next story will be about an Interracial Couple with a European Woman and Black man, included in my other series coming the end of this year.
Xyla Turner I have always like to write, even as a teenager. My mother would come and ask me to finish the stories, because she wanted to know the ending. Between life, moving up in my career and school, I stopped, but over the past two years, I started reading more and more romance novels. I could read 3-4 in a weekend, but at the end I would always feel unproductive. So, one day, I made a compromise with myself. I will read a book and write a book. That turned into writing more and less reading.
Xyla Turner It was a combination of different life experiences I have had, some of my dreams and some imagination. The book actually started off as my own personal journal, but that was a little boring, so I added some drama and characters to spice it up. I have enough teenage drama in my day job, so I try to remain drama free, but that usually does not make for a good book. :-)
