Joseph Rivers I get inspired to write by various things such as music, scenery, spoken words, and just life. Inspiration is everywhere. You just have to find it through the things that make you smile, as well as the things that make you sad. A writer needs to be able to write wholeheartedly through each emotion. Immerse yourself in the craft.
Joseph Rivers I'm currently working on a sequel to my self-help book Lost Souls: Personal Thoughts on Life, Love, & Success—titled Lost Souls 2: Personal Thoughts on Life, Love, & Success. I'm also getting ready to release my first fictional-romance book titled Love & Deception.
Joseph Rivers I got the idea for my recent book from the concept of wanting to give my readers a straight-forward, innovative, thought-provoking type of project. The idea stemmed for the concept that you don't have to be a scholar or scientist to read the book but can conceptualize and understand the book no matter what level you're at. I wanted to create a piece of art that we all can appreciate by what many would call "dumb down" but retaining the originality and creativity, which is why I titled the book, Lost Souls.
Joseph Rivers Keep working at it and NEVER give up. There's going to many nights you want to give up sitting in front of the laptop. Some nights you'll feel as if your brain has powered off and you are out of thoughts but use it all as MOTIVATION. Writing takes persistence and focus. Write because you LOVE it and let that show through your work.
Joseph Rivers The best thing about being a writer is being able to connect with so many beautiful souls all through "words". It fascinates me—to be able to create something from the imagination, give it to the world, and then the world is able to pull inspiration, a story, a feeling, a mood, a sense of direction all from those words that originated in ones mind. That's the best thing about being a writer in my eyes.
Joseph Rivers I deal with writers block by finding ways to re-inspire myself. I try to tap into my inner potential to garner the energy that I used to first began writing. Sometimes this is done for me through beautiful scenery, an inspiring book, or listening to songs that inspire me. The process is different for every writer to conquer writer's block but the trick is to channel the energy that first inspired you to want to write from the beginning. Remember, writers block is all mental, think POSITIVE.
