Victoria Broussard The best thing about being a writer is being able to transcend space and time. The confinements of life are bothersome and limiting, but writing enables me to expand in ways I can't do in real time. Character development is also a phenomenal aspect of writing; I love making my characters come to life and hear them breathe between the pages. But, by far the most satisfying aspect of writing is when people tell me they loved my book and were inspired to do more with their lives as a result of reading it. There is no greater compliment then helping people transcend from one stage of life to another and writing allows me to bridge those two worlds for some people.
Victoria Broussard i-Comfortable Victim is the story of my life as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, but told through a therapeutic fictional lens. When I realized I was far more damaged than I cared to admit, I decided it was time to change. After a series of more victimizing events, I acknowledged I was a comfortable victim and wanted no more of it. I knew the first step would be to out my 10 years of undetected, undisclosed childhood sex abuse, but also knew I had to start writing immediately, no matter how painful it was. I wanted to educate, entertain, and enlighten with my first book and truly give my readers the opportunity to know who I was, at my core. Although writing was accompanied with countless tears, I enjoyed pouring my heart out with the hopes of helping someone like me.
