As I'm now working on strategy and comms for Jeremy Corbyn, the only plot that matters is the one that takes him into Downing Street.

They are not strictly a couple but I loved the relationship between Tochi and Narinder in The Year of the Runaways by Sunjeev Sahota. I don't want to say too much, but it grows beautifully throughout the book as both of them change (Tochi emerging from his bitterness and Narinder torn between loyalty to family and tradition and her own inner-aspirations and instinctive humanity). A great book.

A thriller, set in 1987. The political and emotional passions of Ayesha and Tom are inseparable. They are lovers and peace campaigners caught up in the protests against the bombing of Libya a year earlier. When Tom goes to Tripoli for the anniversary of the attack, he doesn't come back. Ayesha is devastated. She tries to find out why he died but is shunned by his family and warned off by the foreign office. She begins to suspect her own life is in danger, but she can't let it go - whatever the consequences.

Hi Jennie - Thank you for your review and question. Yes, I do have a couple of things in the pipeline, though I'm not making as much progress with them as I'd like, partly because I keep changing my mind about plot and protagonist. They both have a political theme and in different ways concern witch-hunts and the invasion of privacy. I've also written some short stories, one of which I'm hoping will be published shortly. Fingers crossed. All the best, Steve
