Melissa Copeland Woman seeks professional help for unrealistic expectations of life and love, whilst fighting against the rigid social mores that insist we should all wear matching socks; set against the backdrop of not being married to Tom Hardy.

May I ask you a question with an answer? After all, its election time. I write romance and the genre is a mess! Romantic Suspense by the big authors with maybe one % romance. Romance/sports, which are all pretty much Erotica. I have two British romance stories that are written in both POV's where the woman is stronger than the male. So, my question is how to distinguish yourself in the romance genre?
Melissa Copeland Not sure there is an easy answer. Distinguishing yourself in any genre these days can be tricky, because of the many changes to the publishing world and the ways we access it. For my part, I write romantic suspense with a strong and fairly aggressive woman, which is an uphill battle in a sea of alpha male stories that dominate (teehee) the market right now. My approach thus far has been to appeal to those who might be looking for something a little different!

In that regard, Goodreads is an excellent place to find or further define your market and get to know your readers. As an indie author, I would go so far as to say Goodreads has been the best place for me to meet other authors and bloggers, get valuable reader feedback, and make new friends! Hope this is helpful.

Melissa Copeland I take a break from writing and wait until I fall back in love with my characters. Depending on their transgressions, sometimes it takes awhile.
