I get inspired to write by reading. A good book is always inspiration. Also, doing research for a project will inspire me, but the biggest inspiration for me is going to work everyday. Everyday when I am lifting a bag of concrete, building a deck, or painting a house on a hot day, I know I would rather be writing.

To avoid writers block, sometimes I need to step away from the computer for a bit. I will go for a walk with my family, watch a good movie or read a good book. Also, writing is not my day job, so the ability to take some time away from writing is relatively easy, sometimes too easy.

I am currently working on two books. I have been collecting research for a story about the dark family history of a couple, and how their lives eventually entwined. Some of the research is first person accounts, and the sources are getting on in age, so it is a necessity.

Keep working. If it gets hard, take a break, but don't give up. You've got a story, and if you think it is good, chances are, so will many others.

Without a doubt, it is the ability to tell a story. Living in an imaginary world for a short time is pure bliss, and being able to share that is amazing.

I just happened to be reading an article on some ancient texts found in Qumran and stumbled upon the copper scroll. The scroll is such an enigmatic object that it spawned the idea for my book. The copper scroll has been covered in fiction and non-fiction, so I chose to take my book in a different direction, but the initial article and subsequent research I did opened the floodgates for my current book, For Length of Days, and the sequel which I am working on.
