For me, writer's block means I've gotten off track in my story. I need to go back a chapter or three to see what's wrong. Fix that and move forward. Sometimes I need to step back and look at the whole story. Maybe I've gotten from A to M, and can see Z, but not how to get there. That's when I do serious plotting of the events that need to happen to get to the end. Usually one-liners. Then I focus on getting from M to N, then on through the alphabet, until I reach the last plotted point and the end.

The best thing about this profession is releasing the voices in my head. Writers are all a bit crazy. The stories don't go away just because we're at our day job, entertaining or otherwise occupied. The scenes are always playing themselves out in our heads, waiting to be put on the page.

Write every day, even if it's only a sentence. If this is what you really want to do, you have to develop the skill and discipline required to meet deadlines of agents, publishers and readers.

I'm always working on multiple projects. A novel, a novella, a blog or article. If I finish one project, I'm looking at a list of ideas I've collected for the next project.

If you're a writer, you're always inspired. Where the ideas come from can be anywhere. A story being told on the radio. A comment made at a conference. An odd question of 'what if'. You never know until it happens.

I was in the USAF, stationed on a Bombing Range in SW Arizona. One day some of our guys came in with an odd story of an encounter out on the range. That story stuck with me for years and while retelling it to friends, it suddenly inspired me to write Star People Legacy.
