Thank you for your question Bridget. While it may seem like a difficult subject to most people, to most parent's who experiences "out of order grief" it is quite the opposite. I can tell you as a parent who has experienced this type of grief you tend to feel isolated and powerless because nobody knows what to say to you. For instance, we have all heard the saying one time or another "time heals all wounds" or "everything happens for a reason". Those are, in my opinion the worst things to say to a parent who has lost a child. I would much rather talk about my daughter or be reminded about her than for someone to tell me things will get better as time passes, I can assure you that the pain will still be there 10, 20 or 30 years from now and there is no good reason why this happened to begin with. In my opinion it is better to lift up someone rather than sidestep something that will always be there. In doing so, "lifting up" in this case I think it gives people hope. The hope is knowing that we survived the experience as a family and are as strong as ever as a family. I'm going to get into the out of order grief part in my second book, "How We Cope", but that is about a year away. By the way, I wish I could say that the hardships we have faced ended with "How We Fight" but I can't.
What inspired you to share the story of F.I.G.H.T.? The obvious answer is my daughter Caitlyn and that is true but I also want to reach people. Reach them to open their eyes and mind to seeing the miracles that surround us every day. Trust me we had our miracle with Caitlyn and once you read the book you will understand why my mind is open to seeing and understanding how simple miracles truly are.
"My wish is that no family should have to overcome as much adversity in their lives as we have. My hope is that those families that do will find their journey easier to overcome after reading this book."
If I help one person in their struggles no matter what it is, that is what Great Hope is and it is inspiring. Thanks again for your question Bridget and remember, "Family Inspires Great Hope Together"

I don't. I write to inspire and help others.

Simple, never lose the hope, without hope we have nothing.

Right now I am concentrating on the promotion side of my first book. I actually started writing book 2 in this series but have had to put that on hold while I promote.

That's easy as well, I lived it.

To me, the best thing is when I reach people on an emotional level through my writings. You have to remember, my book actually happened and we lived it. Having an effect on my readers is the best thing for me and sometimes I am able to help guide them through their own journey.

This is an easy one to deal with. I simply walk away and remove my focus to something else. Doing so seems to allow the words to come on their own.
