Beyond the standard advice of "write and read as much as you can", I would say observe everything. Focus your senses on your everyday life and let the details that you notice soak into your stories. Become aware of things that trigger your imagination and let your attention rest there for a while just to see what comes to mind. A flock of crows becomes a portent, a knobbly tree becomes a guardian. Writing is a lot of work—make sure you're remembering to have fun with it, too!

I'm currently working on the sequel to the scifi erotica novella I have coming out this October. These shorter pieces are great fun to create. Scifi holds a very dear place in my heart, and combining it with romance is irresistible!

There is always something to do related to writing, even if it doesn't involve putting words on the page. When the creative flow isn't happening, I work on world-building—developing magic systems and making the setting feel more real—or character backgrounds. I might write a scene of back-story to try to work through whatever issue is causing the words to slow. I may even draw something to clarify the scene in my mind's eye.
