R. Collins Mabel Bunt is based on a character I designed a decade ago. I made her, but didn't have anywhere to take her until I met B R Marsten. He liked the character so much, he made a world for her to have adventures in. It's been glorious and moving and enchanting to write and I hope some of that enjoyment comes up off the page for the reader.
R. Collins You want a personal opinion? The most inspiring thing, to me, is being aware that writing is open to everybody. Some of us will do better than others, but we can all do it, if we want to. And I want to.
R. Collins Read. I know the usual advice is to write, but if you're not reading, you're not priming the pump. Read garbage, read the classics, read fairy tales, read Mabel Bunt (see what I did there?) . Even if you're stagnated in your writing, you're still filling the pool with fresh water if you're reading.
R. Collins Endless, endless play time in your head. Oh, and you get to have the creepiest list of searches on your Google.
R. Collins Two things help me.The first is to have a cup of tea and walk the dog. The second is to go and read something outside my comfort zone.
