Hearing from readers! Publishing a story is like putting a note in a bottle and sending it out into the ocean--I don't know who will pick it up or what they'll think of the message, but I hope it connects with someone. Hearing back from readers kind of completes the circle. It reminds me that a story that used to live only in my head now lives with other people, too. I love that.

I do other creative things! Changing my train of thought (but still keeping my hands busy) helps me work through tough spots in my writing. Lately, I've been doing origami when I need to step away for a minute and recharge before I can reconnect with the story.
