I think the best thing about being a writer is evoking emotions in people. To be able to create a character that reaches out and touches a living being, stirs something within them, that is the real treat for me. I love creating those imaginary friends, not only for myself, but for others to hang out with as well.

Gummy Bears. When I can't write, I eat fancy gummy bears and to be honest, I'm a bit of a snob about them. I get them from a local shop, by the pound, and then I get in trouble for spending so much money on candy.

If you want to write, WRITE. Do it often. Read what others write and think about what grabs you, or what makes you shut the book. It is a craft to be studied and practiced but its also therapeutic and life changing.

The idea for FOR LOVE OR FREEDOM came to me at our last family reunion. We were floating the river and the story just sort of popped into my head. The opening scene about the river is really how our family "floats".
