M.K. Jones I have a mysterious great grandfather, whom I have been trying to trace for over 20 years, but cannot find. He was from Ireland. One of my suppositions is that, when he moved to the UK mainland in his 20s he changed his name. But why? What might have happened that would cause him to do this? I'm sure there is a plot for a book in this!
M.K. Jones Sorry, no. Not my forte. I become stressed when I have to write anything precise and short.
M.K. Jones I love the way in which Daphne du Maurier creates the historical world of her books and I would to be a visitor to observe their surroundings, particularly the houses and people of Frenchman's Creek. She also did a superb job with The House on the Strand in which the main character is able to travel back to the 13th century in his own surroundings. But I wouldn't want to live in them! I prefer my modern conveniences.
M.K. Jones My latest book - which I have not even put up on Goodreads yet! - is another Maze Investigations story, called 'The Reluctant Chartist'. Coming from Newport in South Wales I have known about the Chartist movement all my life. It was a major national uprising that culminated in a march by up to 10,000 men on the Westgate Hotel in Newport. As I use important historical events in my genealogy novels, the Chartist uprising seemed a perfect background for a genealogy project. The book will be available in September.
M.K. Jones I love what I do, so I don't find it difficult to sit down and write. There are certain topics that are close to my heart so they are often the inspiration for the basis of a story. I try to have a unique basis in each book. So far, it hasn't been hard to find the inspiration.

I do like reading reviews. I very much appreciate and value what people say, even if they don't like my books (fortunately there haven't been too many). I can learn from mistakes.
M.K. Jones Having recently published the first book in a new series, and as the latest Maze Investigations novel is about to be published, it's time to move onto the next book in the new series. The series is called 'The Curiosity Club of St Foy'. It's set in a fictional seaside town in Cornwall and involves a group of 5 women who help to solve mysteries from the past that never had a resolution. I am currently working on the research and will be ready to begin writing in a couple of weeks.
M.K. Jones Just write. Keep writing. And read, avidly and voraciously. Learn from what you read. Do courses on writing. Then write.
M.K. Jones The creativity that is entirely mine. And the time in which to practice it.
M.K. Jones I give it a little room, but not much, then I push through it. I believe that the draft will be the worst version, so as long as it's on paper, I can improve on it.
