My favorite fictional character is the Captain in the Ghost and Mrs. Muir. I love how he comes across as a grumpy sea captain, yet, he'd do anything for the lady and kids.
In my own work, my favorite is Billy Garfield of Bayou Story. He's a young man who put his family first.

Inspiration comes in many forms, a song, the weather, wild life, people watching and memories. The smell of rain or new mown grass, the sunlight drifting down through a myriad of leaves, all create atmosphere which generates any manor of emotions and thoughts and scenes.
