Currently, I view this story as a standalone journey, but the world of first-century Jerusalem is so rich that I've certainly entertained some 'branches' for the future. I'm intrigued by the untold perspectives of those standing at the foot of the cross - perhaps a deep dive into the 'bad' thief's descent, the Roman soldier who held the spear, or the quiet struggle of a man like Nicodemus trying to balance his status with his faith.
I've also considered a more artifact-focused narrative, following the journey of the physical nails or the crossbeams themselves as they bear witness to history. While I don't have a formal series on the calendar yet, these threads are definitely pulling at me.

Most people know Dismas only as a name on a page or a figure in a painting, but I wanted the reader to truly 'live' his final hours-to feel the weight of the dust, the heat of the sun, and the raw physical pain of the cross. By writing in the first-person, I wanted to strip away the stained-glass formality and get into the mind of a man who thought he was beyond saving. My goal was for the reader to feel that visceral 'tear-jerk' moment when he finally speaks those famous words. I wanted his plea for remembrance to feel like a hard-won victory after a lifetime of bitterness, making that final exchange with Jesus feel as intimate and earth-shattering as it truly was.
