Bob Stockton I am neither a child nor an escapist. I live in the real world, replete with all the joys, sorrows, elations and disappointments that reality has to offer.
Bob Stockton Paul Johnson's "A History of the American People."
Bob Stockton Thank you for your question.
"The Third Tour" is the final book in the Zack Martin Vietnam War novella trilogy. Back in 2014 I wanted to write a novel which told the story of the Navy men and women who went to war in Vietnam and the far east. The Third Tour is the final installment which I finished - after many starts and stops - in January of this year.
Bob Stockton You pose a very interesting question to me. After reading your question, my first reaction was to think of Nick and Nora Charles of the '30s era detective films, The Thin Man. As you pose the question on a website for books I had to dig a bit deeper. I have always been a fan of the short story and of novellas which led me to John Mortimer's "Rumpole of the Bailey" short stories. Horace Rumpole, the claret drinking barrister and "She Who Must Be Obeyed," his unhappy wife who is wedded to a man who never lived up to her remembrance of her daddy's successes, would be my answer.
Thanks for asking that question.
Bob Stockton My advice is to ask a better writer than me (or is it "I"?).
Bob Stockton For me, "writer's block" is no big deal. I go with the flow. Sooner or later the solution to the block will present itself, often in the most unusual situations. I know one writer that keeps a cassette recorder by his bedside in case the flash of inspiration strikes in the wee small hours of the morning.
Bob Stockton I am currently about two-thirds finished with the second novella in my series, "Stories From The U.S. Navy." This series follows the adventures of Navy Radarman Zack Martin who is serving in the Vietnam era. The first in the series, "A Suicide in the Mediterranean" was completed late last year. Look for the second series, "Friendly Fire" to hit Goodreads sometime this summer. This entire series is not suitable for children as it contains raw language and occasional ribald events.
Bob Stockton This is a difficult question for me to answer. I go for days putting off writing until I run out of excuses, guilt intercedes and I go back to work for another spurt.
