Gilly Stewart Two pieces of advice:
- persevere, keep trying, ask rejection but don't let it put you off, keep going
- join up with like-minded writers at a similar stage as you in their career. Supportive writer friends are the best!
Gilly Stewart I am about two-thirds of the way through my 3rd women's contemporary fiction book which is set partly on a film set and partly in a town on the west coast of Scotland. Can't say any more just now!
Gilly Stewart My main inspirations come from places or people. To date all my books have been set in Scotland and it is a country that truly inspires me. Characters can come to me from almost anywhere - a person see walking down the street, a sportsman on television, someone serving in a shop. As long as I don't actually know the person I can make up absolutely anything I like about them. Which is brilliant.
Gilly Stewart The idea for The Lost Woman came to me when I was walking along a narrow road in the Scottish Highlands and saw an oldish car parked at the roadside. It was a dull, cold day and I started wondering: who had left the car there? why? how long had they been away? And all of a sudden the mystery surrounding The Lost Woman came to me!
