Tracy J. Thomas The idea for "Zen in the Garden" materialized after I was diagnosed and began treatment for skin cancer. It was a painful, frustrating and fear-filled time in my life and I felt moved to focus on the beauty in my life that revealed itself through nature and my garden. Writing the book and shooting the photographs became very therapeutic and helped me to be mindful of the beauty that surrounded me and release a lot of fear that accompanied my diagnosis.
Tracy J. Thomas I find the majority of my inspiration to write after I spend time out in nature. There is something about reconnecting with this beautiful earth that allows me to tap into the creative side of my soul.
Tracy J. Thomas I am working on several projects that are set for publication this year. The first is a collection of personal essays on the subject of PTSD. The second is about falling into happiness through acts of compassion.
Tracy J. Thomas Spend time out in the world and try on as many hats as possible, travel to far away places and study the people around you. When you take the time to experience life you will never run out of things to write about. And of course just keep writing and submitting and never give up.
Tracy J. Thomas I go out on a nice long walk, put on some classical music, make a mocha and start writing in a stream of consciousness manner until all the cobwebs are cleared away and inspiration finally arrives.
