Tim Winders I get a story...plot points. And i write them down and think about them for a few days and weeks until the story is a little more formed in my head. The i just sit down and start putting it on paper.
Tim Winders Re reading The Alchemist right now. The Shack is next on my list.
Tim Winders Where was he?

The darkness was so thick that it took way too long for him to realize how dire his situation was...he was buried alive.

Tim Winders Writers block is not as much of a challenge for me as getting my calendar clear from my other business responsibilities. When I sit down with the intention to write my head gets filled with clients and tasks instead of nouns and verbs.

I have recently been much more creative and productive and I can only attribute that to clearing a few things off my calendar AND having a deadline to release a book.
Tim Winders For me it is the impact you can have on other people.

My novel is dedicated to Og Mandino because of the impact his books have had on me...and millions of others.

I am hopeful my books will have some of the same impact. The early feedback and reviews have really encouraged me and let me know I may be moving in the right direction.

Tim Winders I am only recently calling myself an author, so not sure how qualified I am to answer.

But I think for me it has been important to just write. Practice. Get better. Share with a few people.

Then repeat.
Tim Winders I have many projects in my "ideas" folder.

One short novella will be a 3-4 chapter story that will serve as a follow up to my new novel Coach: A Story of Success Redefined. The novel wraps up the story well but I wanted to revisit some of the characters 5 years later to answer a few questions AND the entire story came to me over the course of 2 days. The outline is there, just need to sit down and get the details on paper.

Another project is a bigger, multi book and story project. It is set in the not-to distant future and the United States is no longer united. I know, not tough to imagine but the basic plot has origins from a New Testament biblical account that has always fascinated me. I will take one sentence from scripture and build and entire "world" around the event that occurs. Very excited about this but also overwhelming.

Finally, there was a story idea that I began writing notes for a few years ago...before the pandemic. But I think the pandemic may have given more significance to the theme of the novel. The general theme will be isolation and how we are actually never alone.

Tim Winders I had been reading from Chapter 19 in the Book of Matthew before I closed my eyes to go to sleep.

As I laid there next to my wife in a small camper van on the North island of New Zealand, a character and a story came to my mind. The first sentence and the last sentence of a book then materialized. And then the first and last chapters came into focus.

This was the summer of 2014 (winter in New Zealand) and while we enjoyed traveling in Australia and New Zealand for 9 months, things were very tough for us coming out of business collapses post 2008 that included bankruptcy and some other ugly stuff.

Tongariro National Park in New Zealand has 2 active volcanoes that served as a very unique backdrop to the early stages of my new novel - Coach: A Story of Success Redefined.

I filled in portions of the story over the next 12 months. It began to take the form of an inspirational novel, not just an entertaining story. There were months that I did not work on the book at all. Two years of Bible School added valuable insight but not many words.

Finally the story was finished in 2019. Then the long editing process began and I learned that a good story needs a good editor.

Fast forward to today and the book is ready to release. We have come a long way from sleeping in a camper van in New Zealand to traveling North America in a motor coach named Theo.

Read the book that has been on the journey with me for almost 8 years.
