You get to create stories and characters that other people can embrace. Maybe you are giving hope to someone having a bad day, or teaching a valuable life lesson. Perhaps you are bringing a bit of joy or laughter into someone's life. To improve someone's life with a series of words, I think that is an awesome ability.

It's hard to say what inspires. I start with an idea and begin writing. I may have a detailed track that a story follows, but often the writing will inspire something different. You won't know what kind of story you have until you really get into it.

I know it is often said, but never give up. Good writing takes a lot time, effort, and practice. The other advice is to network. Get to know other writers, editors, illustrators. Having that community of writers can help you grow.

It's difficult, but the key to deal with that is perseverance. If you keep addressing it, eventually that block is going to break.
