Hello,
Unfortunately, my original publisher turned down the sequel on the grounds that they did not believe there would be sufficient consumer interest to drive sales. My literary agent and I subsequently approached a different publisher. We have been waiting for that publisher's decision for the last eight months.
I understand that the delay must be incredibly frustrating as a reader. I can only say that I have fought as hard as I could for this book, because 1.) this is my passion project, and 2.) disappointing everyone who enjoyed Asunder feels terrible. This was not the outcome I expected or wanted.
If the second publisher comes back with a rejection, I will probably have to backburner the Asunder sequel. If I’m lucky, a different project might bolster my profile enough to make 2Sunder a more attractive proposition in the future — regardless, my intention would NOT be to abandon the book, but to put it on hold.
I’m sure this isn’t what you hoped to hear, and I’m very sorry. I’m sincerely glad you enjoyed Asunder, though, and I’ll keep trying to get the rest of the story published.

I have another novel under contract, unrelated to any of my previous work, which will hopefully be published in early 2024. If everything goes smoothly, more information about that book should be forthcoming from Tordotcom in a couple of months from now.
