The Brohemians share a bond that transcends friendship. They are united by their love of sport, their desire to push themselves beyond their limits, and their belief in hope and the power of peace. They admire one another not despite their differences, but because of them, giving each other the freedom to be completely themselves. Beyond all of that, they share something harder to define: a rare, almost magical connection that allows them to sit together, whether in silence or in chaos, and simply exist as one.

For me, New Orleans was the first city outside of Denver that truly felt like home. The bond among its people goes far beyond the incredible food, music, and art the city is famous for. There is an almost unspoken spiritual connection among the residents, one that reminded me deeply of the bond shared by the Brohemians. On a practical level, the city itself, especially the French Quarter, also provided the perfect environment to fully realize their parkour abilities.

I often say psychologists would be among the most important and highly paid professionals on the planet if they could fully do their jobs. Unfortunately, many people lie to their therapists, making real healing nearly impossible. If you want to speed your recovery along, be radically honest and let them actually help you. Once you truly accept your condition, you can stop wasting energy denying it and start focusing on solutions. You also gain the clarity to understand that much of what happened to you may not have been fair in the first place.
But there’s another part of this that is mission critical: radical honesty with ourselves. If we have the courage to face the truth about who we are, what we feel, and what we need, we quietly give the people around us permission to do the same.

The biggest misconception is that accomplishment will automatically lead a depressed person to self esteem and happiness. For many of us, “feeling good” was never truly on the menu.
There were peaks and valleys throughout my life, moments of success and achievement, but they rarely mirrored my emotional state. I was often able to accomplish more than the people around me, yet none of it lifted me up or silenced the voice inside my head.
The truth is, for many depressed people, simply waking up in the morning and getting out of bed is a profound act of courage. It requires a level of resilience and endurance that few people will ever truly understand.
