Typically, I do more research on the subject I am about to write about until I feel more equipped or inspired to begin. Or, I just put on my worship music and write by faith and trust that the Lord will guide me. My writing is preparation to feed his sheep. He always provides a meal, even if its not a buffet. I'm often amazed by his provision, and I'm always thankful.

It is based off whatever the Lord leads me to teach at my church or university.

I write to learn. I am a visual-written learner--meaning that if I don't write it, I don't learn it. In order to preach and teach, I have to fully manuscript to hide the Word in my heart. Publishing is the new venture God has called me to in order to reach more people for his kingdom.

At this stage, I am always working on several projects at a time. Because my writing comes from my preaching and teaching ministry, I am always working. After I finish preaching through a book of the Bible or a topic, I try to find another avenue to teach it again (like in a small group or a university class) in order to work on polishing the manuscript. Then, I send it off to editors to fix my mistakes and prepare it for publishing.
My current rotation: Nehemiah: Becoming a Godly Leader, which I preached first three years ago, is now on its last edit and, Lord willing, will publish late October 2015. Philippians: Pursuing Spiritual Maturity, which I preached two years ago, is on its second outside edit (I try to have three outside editors) and will probably publish December 2015. Abraham: Living the Life of Faith I will teach for the second time this fall semester in a small group, then again, Lord willing, in a university class over the winter. Then it will publish around March 2016.
This semester in our church, we will finish preaching through the book of Ephesians. Then, Lord willing, I will teach it again for a small group Spring 2016 and for the university Summer 2016. Then I will send it to editors throughout the summer and publish in Fall 2016.
So in short my current projects are: Nehemiah, Philippians, Abraham, and Ephesians.
I don't know how God will use the books, but I do feel he's called me to faithfully write, edit, and publish during this season with the hope of building up his church. All my books are first published on KDP Select for the first 3 months to utilize free give aways. Then I publish them for free on Bible.org to reach more people. This way I can produce the most fruit even if I never make any money :)

Write to honor God, to build up his church, and to use the gift the Lord gave you. Whether God chooses to bless many people through it or just yourself, be faithful and give him thanks.

As a Christian writer, the best thing for me is getting to study Scripture more, allowing it to better saturate my mind, enjoying God's presence in the process, and then God choosing to use my weak writing to encourage someone and build up his church. It's phenomenal.
