The idea for Shadows came to me as a dream on the night of my birthday of all days. I had the dream, woke up, and typed it into Evernote, like I do with all my ideas.

My inspiration comes from all over. My dreams are a big part, as well as the music I love. Sometimes inspiration comes from leaves on the wind. You can find it anywhere, if you're willing to look.

Currently I'm working on Shadows 2. Eventually it'll get a new name, it just hasn't come to me yet. I'm working on getting that finished and getting ready for editing.

Write everyday. Even if it's only a few hundred words a day. Write! You can go back and edit a bad page or an off page later, you can't edit a blank page.

The best thing about being a writer is getting to take the world that exists in my head and put it on paper for other people to enjoy.

When I get blocked I do one of three things. First I'll step away and start talking about what's coming next with the book. What are the characters about to get into? What's around the corner? Even if I'm talking to my self, it helps.
Secondly if I'm stuck I'll put some inspirational music lay on the couch, turn off the lights, and contemplate what needs to be happening with the book.
Thirdly, if I'm really blocked, I'll take a piece of paper and a pen and just start writing. Doesn't matter what it is. I'll just write the most random crazy thoughts that pop in my head. It sounds insane, but it really helps.
