Grace Tiffany Probably only extremely loosely. The "Grace" in my name comes from the maternal side of my family. But we are from New York, and if she was, too, there's probably some remote connection.
Grace Tiffany Have you tried inter-library loan? I'm not sure public libraries use this system outside their local networks, but colleges and universities do, and there's a copy at Western Michigan University. You need borrower's privileges -- sometimes colleges and universities grant these to local residents -- but if you don't have these and you know a student or faculty member, that person could put in the request. I'm sorry you have trouble finding the book. I thought it was available via Amazon, and I see it here and there on the Internet, but it's out of print, which makes it tricky. I'm glad you're enjoying Judith's story.
Grace Tiffany Because of the last name, possibly! But the first name is a coincidence, because I was named after someone on my mom's side of the family.
Grace Tiffany George and Lucy in Booth Tarkington's THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS. He is such an aristocratic pain in the **** who tries so heroically to reform himself, and succeeds. She is a middle-class woman with a spirit generous enough to see that he wants to be better than he is, and she forgives him for what he can't help being. Great novel, great ending, great couple.
Grace Tiffany GUNPOWDER PERCY, a novel about the Gunpowder Plot and its shadowy connection to the Jacobean theater, is forthcoming in 2016. And I'm not writing a novel about New Orleans in 1992.
Grace Tiffany Read well-written and valuable books by great authors. Don't read crappy writing. Just put crappy writing down and walk away and find writers who are masters of the language. That's how you learn to use words well yourself.
Grace Tiffany Entertaining people. I have always loved getting caught up in a story, and I am happy when people tell me that they found something I wrote to be a page-turner.
Grace Tiffany I think it's a myth.
Grace Tiffany I don't wait to get inspired because I don't have time. I have to write when I can write. I tend to rely on planning rather than inspiration. Usually it starts to be fun and go more easily around the eighth chapter.
Grace Tiffany I generally get my ideas from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The notion for PAINT came from reading about the ghastly beautifying regimens to which women submitted themselves during the reigns of Queen Elizabeth I and King James. My forthcoming novel, GUNPOWDER PERCY, is based on the fascinating but elusive connection between Shakespeare's plays and a thwarted terrorist plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605.
