J.B. Kantt I don't think I can pick just one favorite. However, I will say my favorite genres are mostly the ones I write, which are middle grade and young adult contemporary, paranormal, fantasy, science fiction, and dystopia.
J.B. Kantt The main advice I have for someone who wants to start writing is ... just start writing. There's no right or wrong way to start. You should write about whatever you want; the beauty of writing is there's no boundaries. Sure, not everyone is great at it when they first start, but as I always like to say: In the world of writing, practice makes better; so the more you write, the better you write. Plus, you should write for you, not for anyone else; so if you want to keep your writing to yourself, you can ... and if one day you want to share it with readers, you can do that too. It's totally up to the writer.

I hope this helps you, and I hope you find the courage to write. :)
J.B. Kantt The world inspires me to write—things that I experience and things that others experience. So I guess in one word: life.

With that said, no one really inspired me to start writing (I started writing in order to fulfill a language arts requirement in school … and soon fell in love with it). But my creative writing teachers have inspired me to keep writing.
J.B. Kantt For my debut novel, Roses Are Red, I was inspired by an anime called Black Butler. It was one specific scene towards the end of the series that sparked the idea for Roses Are Red. I won’t give away what that scene was because I don’t want to spoil it for those who plan on reading Roses Are Red and/or plan on watching Black Butler.
J.B. Kantt Currently I'm working on a young adult contemporary novel.

Also, never give up. It only takes one "yes" (i.e. it only takes one person to believe in you, whether that person is an editor, an agent, or even a reader).
J.B. Kantt The best thing about being a writer is being able to let my imagination run wild! I love being able to write about anyone doing anything, it feels liberating (especially since it's stuff that I created in my mind)!
J.B. Kantt In order to try and prevent writer's block, I outline most of my stories before I start writing them. Once I feel that I have a strong enough outline (that covers all the major plot points, and fills any plots holes), I'll then start writing.
