Good plots usually involve tension and conflict, and I've seen plenty of that in criminal investigations and in trial. And working in the public sector with politicians, on regularly sees greed and self interest conflicting with others doing "the right thing." In fact, I'm working on a story along those lines right now!

Sure I could say something funny, like King Kong and Fay Wray, but the first couple that popped in my head is Nick and Nora, from the Thin Man. It was a clever and entertaining book by Dashiell Hammett, and an even more enjoyable film - the husband and wife, martini drinking upper-class crime solvers.

The Hedge Extreme - about a hedge fund manager who tries to get back on his feet by ripping off drug dealers - I watched some friends in the financial industry struggle through the great recession and I wondered what a desperate person in that situation might do when tempted with a drug dealer's money.
