Thank you, NH! I found the photo of the model on a stock photo website, and the cover designer created a nevus flammeus for her face according to the description of Madge's mark. The arches are part of the ruins of St Mary's Abbey in York, Yorkshire. I'm glad you like it!

Yay!!! I'm so pleased you enjoyed it! I'm presently working on a prequel AND another book that takes place in the same world, but has completely different characters. It will likely be a long time before either is done though because I'm working a full time job right now. If you go to my website: aewalnofer.weebly.com and click on the "purchasing" tab, you can sigh up for my newsletter so you'll be notified when any future titles are released. Please let your historical fiction fan friends know that A Girl Called Foote is presently free for download on Instafreebie.com. Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know you liked it. It's comments like yours that make all the hard work worth it. :)

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy because I love the witty and loaded banter they throw back and forth early on in their relationship and then the heavier, intelligent conversations they have later. They are two minds that are well matched.

All sorts of fictitious situations occur to me without me trying to conjure them. (For example, "Foote" was birthed with the notion that an upper-class person might catch a maid reading books when she's supposed to be dusting them. What would he think about her, and what would he do? What would she think about him, and how would she feel about the situation?) The challenge is figuring out how to fit the fictitious situations all together into a cohesive, logically-developed, interesting story.

Well, considering it took me about six years to finish my recent book, I guess I don't deal with it very well!

Actually, I was thinking about a character from "Foote", Mrs. Devlin, who throws a party for the poor kids in her area each year once spring has arrived, essentially to celebrate them having survived winter and to give them a good meal. I wondered how she would respond if some of the children attending her event weren't well-behaved. What would she do if they started destroying her possessions and hurting the most vulnerable in the room? I've been in situations where I was genuinely trying to help someone and they not only didn't appreciate it and tried to take advantage of it, but they even were being intentionally hurtful in the process. I pondered how she would handle it if she suddenly found herself turning from a benefactress into a defender. However, now that I have a framework of sorts for the book, I'm not sure I'll be able to fit the original scene I envisioned into it.

I'm currently working on another novel which takes place in approximately the same time period as "A Girl Called Foote". The going is slow, though...
