I am sure they tried to discourage me from writing this book to protect me from reliving such trauma, but they had no appreciation that I needed to write it regardless of the cost involved. I think there are no shortcuts, you have to live through that pain, it’s the only way that you can write in an authentic story. And when you’re done you hope that it was worth it.
