I do love me some "House Hunters: Renovations", but I find - at least to me - that all the designers seem to be using the same kitchen template in their design. If I ever did a reno, I would love to hire Joanna Gaines from "Fixer Upper."

My advice is you gotta love writing - the lonely act of sitting down and just doing it - because the amount of rejection you get is staggering. You have to love writing for the joy of it because it's really not a financially responsible career path!

I'm working on a "New Adult" novel (though I'm not a fan of putting labels on things) that's also a sci-fi alternate history. I may also enter into the Kindle Scout program. We'll see!

Writer's block is brought on, I think, by fear: will readers like it? Will it make its way into the world? Fear can really stop you, so I try to be mindful and figure out - what am I scared of? Look at the fear, accept it, and then move forward. Of course, sometimes writer's block really is just your mind's way of saying, "Hey, Jim, this idea isn't working. It's best if you trash it." Sometimes it's a matter of figuring out which one it is: fear, or the truth.
