Kayla Krantz I look for people who love books. Those who aren't afraid to give a new author a chance. Also, I tend to lean toward those who have an interest in the same genre/similar genres as the book that I'm currently peddling. Not everyone ends up being a good fit, but I learn through trial and error :)
Kayla Krantz When it comes to marketing, I usually spend a good hour or two a day on average. Some days, I spend more than that, especially when I'm trying to get the word out about a new release. I try to split my time the best I can between writing and building my online presence because both are important to be a successful writer in today's day and age.
Kayla Krantz The urge to give up completely. Writing is a hard business. Not only because it's lonely but because it's filled with critique and rejection. Most days, it's easier to just give up than to continue on. Every time this mood hits me, and I get myself through it, it's one of the biggest victories that I can fathom.
Kayla Krantz I am inspired by a number of sources. Usually, bits and pieces come to me from songs, dreams, or pictures. I was inspired into becoming a writer by my favorite author, Stephen King. To have a mind like his must be both a blessing and a curse. I pray that in my career I can come up with even one or two books as creative as his.
Kayla Krantz Of course I would go to Hogwarts. I would love to study magic there and have the entire magical experience <3
Kayla Krantz I love to write dark fantasy and psychological thrillers. I don't have sex in any of my books except for a graphic scene in Alive at Sunset as well as some in my new novella, The Moon Warriors. While all of my books have swearing, it's more limited in my fantasy series. I would definitely recommend The Council because it's the most lighthearted of anything I've written. It's a coming of age novel about a crippled witch. Here's the goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
Kayla Krantz It is currently available now on Amazon, however, it still has the old cover. I'm hoping to get the version with the new cover up in about a week.
Kayla Krantz Gabrilla sat bolt upright in bed, heart pounding so hard she was unsure how she had escaped the clutches of her nightmare. Wiping away the sheen of sweat on her forehead, she looked into the darkened corner of her room and realized the monster from her dreams looked right back at her.
Kayla Krantz Unfortunately, all I have at the time are PDF copies since I'm still going through the process of getting the cover in the right shape for Createspace.
Kayla Krantz Well, I'm not sure how to get reviews in a magazine, but I know the best way to get reviews on Goodreads and Amazon is simply to interact and network with others. Other writers are your best bet for gathering reviews on new works. They know the struggle because they've been there personally. Many authors are willing to read and review new works. And that's okay. Readers will leave reviews as well, but it's a slow process. Once the reviews begin to roll in, it will encourage others who have read your story to review it as well, sort of like a snowball effect.
Kayla Krantz Always be kind! There will be some rude people out there. People that will give you bad reviews just because they want to, and there's not much you can do about it. Keep your head high in spite of these people, and always keep trying. Don't take negative reviews to heart, but rather use them as constructive criticism and inspiration to work harder in future projects.
Kayla Krantz Writer's block is difficult for me. However, I have found that music is a big help to unlocking it. When I listen to music, I get the most random ideas. Sometimes, even doing housework can give me ideas. I'll be doing dishes when out of nowhere, I get the best plot twist.
Kayla Krantz I am currently working on Live at Sunrise which is a prequel to the Dead by Morning Trilogy.
Kayla Krantz Never give up! The traditional path of a writer may not work for everyone! Do not be afraid to branch out and explore all your options. If you have a unique story, the world needs to hear it!
Kayla Krantz Certain songs sometime spark ideas or I'll have dreams that help me to see my books in a new light.
