Once I figured out my concept - to write a book inspired by Andy Warhol's Diaries (which I loved), I was completely inspired to go for it. I thought for a year on and off about what I could possibly write next but getting that one idea was all the inspiration I needed to go forward.

I LOVE writing. Knowing my voice is something I'm grateful about, and sitting here today with the finished product is so gratifying. It is such a personal experience, having a book, and it's unlike anything else I've ever done.

Since I was writing my diary, and the format was very clear (what did I do today/who did I see/what did I think/how can I make it funny or interesting) I didn't struggle with writer's block this time around. On my last book I had a few restless days and nights in the process. Having a clear deadline is a great motivator for me to get my writing done. I like to be under pressure.

Like Warhol's diary, it is a pop culture treasure trove! It's literally my diary so the 'chapters' are months and the book is divided by seasons. I don't have a favorite season because so much happened all year. I think the Fire Island section may be my favorite.

The only downside - and I wouldn't even say its anything dramatic - is the photo thing. People want photos at the exact moment that they want it and it doesn't really matter what I'm doing. I always say yes but it's wild! otherwise i always forget that I'm "famous" - it doesn't define me and it's not a big deal..
