Andy Cohen State of Wonder by Ann Patchett!
Andy Cohen I got the idea from The Andy Warhol Diaries, which is an incredible accounting of 11 years of his life that reads like a dishy pop culture time capsule.
Andy Cohen Once I figured out my concept - to write a book inspired by Andy Warhol's Diaries (which I loved), I was completely inspired to go for it. I thought for a year on and off about what I could possibly write next but getting that one idea was all the inspiration I needed to go forward.
Andy Cohen I'm hosting and EP'ing my show, Watch What Happens Live, EP'ing all the Real Housewives Shows, developing shows to produce for my production company, and of course I'm working on Volume 2 of The Andy Cohen Diaries!
Andy Cohen Figure out what your voice is, and the rest will follow. That seems to be the biggest hurdle for people.
Andy Cohen I LOVE writing. Knowing my voice is something I'm grateful about, and sitting here today with the finished product is so gratifying. It is such a personal experience, having a book, and it's unlike anything else I've ever done.
Andy Cohen Since I was writing my diary, and the format was very clear (what did I do today/who did I see/what did I think/how can I make it funny or interesting) I didn't struggle with writer's block this time around. On my last book I had a few restless days and nights in the process. Having a clear deadline is a great motivator for me to get my writing done. I like to be under pressure.
Andy Cohen Like Warhol's diary, it is a pop culture treasure trove! It's literally my diary so the 'chapters' are months and the book is divided by seasons. I don't have a favorite season because so much happened all year. I think the Fire Island section may be my favorite.
Andy Cohen probably the kenya/porsha situation, which is in the book too!
Andy Cohen omg too many to count -- read the book for my stories in the last year. there are plenty!
Andy Cohen The only downside - and I wouldn't even say its anything dramatic - is the photo thing. People want photos at the exact moment that they want it and it doesn't really matter what I'm doing. I always say yes but it's wild! otherwise i always forget that I'm "famous" - it doesn't define me and it's not a big deal..
Andy Cohen Bethenny excelled at being a "Housewife of NYC".. she's been through a lot and comes into this season at a crossroads in her life. I think she'll be great and win you back over.
Andy Cohen none scheduled yet but I really want to do some Texas signings! the whole schedule is at theandycohendiaries.com
